Tonic Physical Therapy Functional Manual Therapy

Tonic Physical Therapy treats a wide range of clients—from high-level athletes and weekend warriors, to stay-at-home Moms, retirees and student athletes—basically anyone who is in any level of pain and/or recovering from injuries or surgery.

We specialize in Functional Manual Therapy® (FMT), a hands-on integrative treatment developed by Greg and Vicki Johnson of the Institute of Physical Art. FMT uses specific manual evaluation techniques to identify the cause of movement impairments that lead to pain, decreased mobility and degenerative conditions. Specific hands-on therapy techniques and movement patterns are used to restore more efficient mobility to the body’s joints and soft tissues including muscle, nerves, and connective tissues.

Once efficient mobility has been restored, the client learns how to re-educate the body to maintain and improve specific muscle strength, motor control and endurance for everything from sports to daily activities such as walking, lifting, gardening, or sitting at a computer.
